Adolescent PortableTherapy

a program of the Vera Institute of Justice

 presents the

2010 Summer Jobs for Youth  Fundraiser!!

On June 23rd, 2010 APT will be hosting a fundraiser at Alibi Lounge. Contributions will allow APT to provide jobs for APT youth this summer.

The Vera Institute's acclaimed Adolescent Portable Therapy (APT) project provides substance abuse and family mental health treatment for adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system.

APT, a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice, was developed in 2001 to fill a major service gap in New York City and has been operating successfully ever since.  APT has been replicated in cities outside of New York and was a finalist for the Harvard Innovations in Government Award in 2005.  APT is now viewed as a model program on the national stage.

APT works with families in the most under-resourced neighborhoods across New York City.  Given current budget challenges, summer jobs are no longer guaranteed to our city's youth.  Each summer, APT bridges a small part of this gap by offering paid internships in NYC-based organizations to youth enrolled in our program.  For most of the young people, this internship is their very first job, so APT provides additional coaching and support to teach them the skills that will help them succeed in the workplace.

We'll be kicking off the summer program with good friends, food, music and raffle prizes!  Come and be part of the festivities - your contribution will help provide the youth of the APT program with a valuable summer work experience.

If you are unable to attend the event and would like to show your support, you may make a donation using the general donation ticket option above. The Vera Institute is a 501(3) (C) non-profit.
